As part of the National Dementia Strategy, MARTIN GREEN, chief executive of the English Community Care Association (ECCA) has recently been appointed to the post of ‘Dementia Champion for the Independent Sector’, Caring Times editor GEOFF HODGSON asked Mr Green what he hoped to deliver in the role.

I spoke to Martin Green a week after his appointment as Dementia Champion for the Independent Sector. He told me that, at an official and political level, the Department of Health had wanted to engage the independent sector as part of the National Dementia Strategy so they were looking for somebody within the independent sector who could champion the strategy.

‘The minister decided that I might be able to fulfil that role,’ he said.
