Aids to memory

The charity Disabled Living has available for hire a number of “chatterboxes” containing articles to promote conversation and reminiscence among older people. The boxes contain 20-25 artifacts which are grouped into three to four categories such as “in the kitchen”, “childhood”, “holidays” and “household” or could be a general miscellany of items relating to periods from the 1920s to 1965. Information on how to get started and precautions are included and there are suggestions for the development of discussion topics. Hire charges are £5 per week or £15 per month plus carriage or postage. Bigger boxes are available for personal collection. For further information contact Mary Guest on 0161 832 3678.
