Barchester Healthcare enters a period of new growth

When Barchester Healthcare plc was established in 1995, the company adopted a mission statement – “we aim to be the most successful and respected care home company by putting quality first in everything we do”. The company’s mission statement develops the “quality” theme to embrace the quality of the care and environment offered to residents, the quality of staff in terms of their experience and training, the quality of locations chosen and the buildings Barchester Healthcare has constructed, and the quality of the company’s financial performance More than five years down the track, the company has gone a long way towards achieving its goal and managing director Mike Parsons sees no reason to make any changes to the mission statement. At the end of 1999 Barchester Healthcare owned 15 homes around the country with a total of 1,099 beds and a turnover of more than £20 million.
