Barchester opens Thistle Hill in Knaresborough

Major provider Barchester Healthcare has opened the £3 million Thistle Hill care home in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. Barchester says the care centre became an urgent requirement when it became clear that the existing Thistle Hill care home could not be upgraded sufficiently to meet the quality of provision that Barchester seeks to provide. The new Thistle Hill provides 24-hour nursing care for older people and specialist nursing care for those with dementia, with a new unit for younger adults with physical disabilities. With the capacity for 20 residents, it has been specially developed to help meet the needs of the local community and is one of the few units in the Barchester Healthcare portfolio able to offer this type of specialist care. All rooms have en-suite facilities with level access showers for disabled use. There are also spacious, light lounges and dining rooms as well as activity, physiotherapy and hairdressing areas.
