Blanchworth Care to operate new care centre in Hereford

Blanchworth Care, Herefordshire Primary Care Trust and Herefordshire Council have opened the Kington Court Health and Social Care Centre, in Kington. The facility is the culmination of a partnership set up between the three organisations to help meet North Herefordshire¹s health and social care needs. It will be owned and operated by independent care provider Blanchworth Care under a 15-year contract to provide services that will be purchased by the other two partners. By replacing the Cottage Hospital, which had been scheduled for closure since the late 1990s, the £3m development will provide a number of NHS services including a minor injuries unit, physiotherapy department, health visiting, district nursing, outpatient clinics (including ophthalmology, dermatology, diabetic eye screening, foot health and hearing aid clinic), and a dental access centre. There will also be 10 intermediate care beds, managed by Blanchworth Care on behalf of the NHS. Social care provision will be enhanced by the new day care
