Bowman joins BUPA Care Services

BUPA Care Services has appointed Dr Clive Bowman as medical director, advising BUPA on medical issues affecting the business and overseeing the future development of its services. Tho post is said to be the first of its kind in the long term care sector. Dr Bowman, a well-known and distinguished consultant physician and gerontologist with the Weston Area Health Trust (WAHT), is also associate director of the International Institute on Health and Ageing, and an honorary senior clinical lecturer in Medicine at the University of Bristol. He will continue to practice one day a week as a consultant physician for the WAHT, principally managing Parkinson¹s disease. “There are many opportunities to improve the care of people in an ageing population through innovative partnerships and a greater focus on chronic illnesses and related disability,” Dr Bowman said. “BUPA Care Services has a strong infrastructure from which to develop new models of disease management and intermediate care that will help drive the modernis
