Bristol-based Brunelcare has appointed a new operations director to oversee the charity’s community services and sheltered housing division in the region. Wayne Shermon will co-ordinate 350 staff working across some 23 sheltered housing sites, including 1,000 units and over 1,400 tenants, plus Brunelcare’s community services remit throughout Bristol, North Somerset and Somerset. A former accountant, Mr Shermon has worked in the care sector for 13 years. “This year will see us working in partnership with a number of organisations to help give older people more choice in the homes that they live in, and to help them make more informed decisions when choosing their homes,” said Mr Shermon. “We are also continuing a £13.8 million programme of repair and remodelling over the next 10 years, which aims to transform all of Brunelcare’s housing stock into ‘Home for Life’ – essentially, housing which is suitable for a range of older people, from the fit and healthy through to the elderly infirm.” B
