Major provider Southern Cross Healthcare has a new chief executive. He is Jamie Buchan, who has held senior posts in hospitality at Whitbread, in customer service and brand development at Centrica, and within retail service station operations at Esso. He replaces Bill Colvin who announced his departure in September last year.

Between 2002 and early 2008, backed by a Malaysian private fund, Mr Buchan led the successful turnaround and subsequent sale of the ExCel Exhibition and Conference centre in London.
