Care investors look to make their mark overseas

UK investors are increasingly looking at opportunities overseas, with Germany becoming a particularly attractive destination, says MICHAEL HODGES, director at Christie + Co.

Demand for care properties in Germany was particularly high in 2007 and is expected to continue to increase over the next few years. Most of the demand originates from UK and international investors, looking for investment opportunities where they can add value to an existing portfolio.

This growing requirement for properties is also illustrated by the amount of work undertaken by Christie + Co’s specialist care property team which is based in offices in Munich and Berlin. In 2007, Christie + Co advised on German care property with an aggregate value
