Edinburgh-based Carlton Care was placed into administrative receivership at the end of November 2002. The company operates 11 care homes with 436 care beds, located in the north of England and Scotland. Daniel Smith and Bill Cleghorn of RSM Robson Rhodes were appointed as joint administrative receivers to the company, and have secured the assistance of Four Seasons Healthcare to manage the day to day operational issues at the care homes. Negotiations for the ultimate transfer of the care homes to a new operator or operators is anticipated to conclude over the next few months, (subject to National Care Standards Commission registration approval). RSM Robson Rhodes maintains a high profile in the care sector, having developed a dedicated in-house unit, CareForce. Carlton Care Ltd is the fourth receivership of a major corporate care provider in the last three years for the firm, following on from the Advantage, Sandown and Union healthcare groups.
