Christmas treat for resident¹s grandchildren

Christmas came early for members of an Ely family when their grandmother won a competition ran by Regency House care home in Ely, Cardiff, sending her lifesaving grandchildren on a whirlwind shopping trip to London. More than 20 residents entered the competition to win their family a return trip to London, along with £200 to spend in the world¹s biggest toy store, Hamley¹s. An independent judge selected a clear winner after Louisa Brain, 78 described how her grandchildren have saved her life on many occasions. “My grandchildren Danielle and Jack are amazing,” Mrs Brain said. “Danielle saved me by calling an ambulance after I fell and injured myself badly and Jack is such a character ­ this is my way of saying thank you for all they have done for me ­ I am stunned to have won. “It isn¹t me that has won this prize, it is down to my family for all they have done for me.” Jack¹s excitement could not be contained: “I can¹t wait,” he said. “I am going to see the Queen¹s house and go shopping but the most e
