Concern over healthcare for elderly people

Help the Aged has expressed concern that older patients would be denied high quality medical care, if proposals to place hospital patients in private nursing homes for rehabilitation care were accepted. The charity’s concern follows the announcement by Health Secretary Alan Milburn that elderly patients in NHS hospitals would be sent to private nursing homes in a radical plan to free beds for more urgent cases.
