Council sells homes in face of strong opposition

Leicestershire County Council has decided to sell six care homes to the private sector despite almost 10,000 people registering their objection.

Following the decision by the council cabinet, David Sprason, cabinet member for adult social care, said any modernisation programme and change to services generated a lot of discussion and, on this occasion, opposition.
