CRB delays cause staffing problems

A Midlands agency which supplies nursing staff to care homes has warned that delays in screening applications at the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) could cause serious staffing problems. Abacus Care of Codnor, Derbyshire, says the delays are harming the recruitment of nursing and care staff. “The bureau just isn¹t providing a satisfactory service,” said manager Anne Tyson. “It was heralded as an agency which would prevent unsuitable people from working with young and vulnerable people, but if this mismanagement isn¹t rectified quickly, employers could be forced into taking a risk and hiring unchecked staff.”
