CT Interview – John Graham

|Caring Times editor GEOFF HODGSON talks to the managing director of the ExtraCare Charitable Trust| John Graham¹s vision, and that of the ExtraCare Charitable Trust (ECCT), of which he is managing director, is to create better lives for older people. Ten minutes of talking with John Graham (we talked for three hours) shows him to be a person who loves people, loves life, and who loves a challenge. Quick to laugh but with a keen intellect equally quick to focus seriously on any of a host of issues, he led our conversation hither and thither. He talked with equal enthusiasm and understanding about corporate strategy, government policy, staff training and developing new activities programmes for residents. Mr Graham¹s close knowledge of every aspect of the Trust¹s operation makes him seem like a canny captain who knows every inch of his ship, or like a jovial general who is fully aware of the disposition of his troops, and of their capabilities. Born in Wales, John Graham studied architecture for five years
