Derek and Anna Scantlebury have appointed the Exeter Office of Christie + Co to sell their 22-bed care home on the outskirts of the West Devon village of Halwil, near Okehampton. Barn Park occupies a detached period residence, which has been extended and improved over the years and now provides 20 single and one shared bedroom, of which six have ensuite facilities, with communal areas, including a lounge, a sun lounge and a quiet lounge. The home stands in well established grounds and gardens and includes 13 houses and bungalows, specifically for people over 55. Plans have been raised for 10-bedroom extension. Simon Harvey, from Christie + Co’s Exeter Office, who is handling the sale, said Barn Park is registered to accommodate a maximum of 22 clients under the categories of old age, physical disability, mental disorder and dementia. “Barn Park has been owned and operated by Derek and Anna since they purchased it in late 1988, but they are now looking to retire from the care sector,” said Mr Harvey. “
