Directory of providers released

Health care market analysts Laing & Buisson have published the 1999 edition of their directory of major providers of long term care. The directory lists all for-profit and not-for-profit companies, partnerships and individuals with three or more care homes for either elderly/physically disabled people or learning disabled/mentally ill people. All publicly quoted companies with any care homes at all are included, regardless of the number of homes. Section One of the directory lists all the major providers of care for elderly and physically disabled people, together with details of the homes for elderly and physically disabled people that are owned or managed by each of the major providers. At the front of the section is a summary of the major providers and the total homes and beds owned and managed. Section Two lists all the major providers of care for people with learning disabilities, mental illness and alcohol or drug dependency. All providers are clearly defined by coded categories of ownership, which are:
