|Now the chief executive of Priory Healthcare, Dr Chai Patel¹s profile as a mover-and-shaker in the elderly care sector is likely to loom less large. In the first of a regular series of interviews with major figures in the care sector, Caring Times editor Geoff Hodgson spoke to Dr Patel soon after he assumed his new post at the helm of Priory| Since founding the company Court Cavendish in 1988, Dr Chai Patel has been a significant figure in the long term care sector, most recently as chief executive of Westminster Healthcare which he acquired in 1999. Now, following a £288m management buyout of Priory Healthcare, the UK¹s biggest independent mental health services group which Westminster acquired in 2000, Dr Patel¹s direct involvement in the provision of long term care for elderly people will be much reduced. Named as Care Personality 1999 in the annual care awards organised by Caring Times, Dr Patel, 56, was ranked as the eighth most important person in the healthcare sector by the Guardian in 2000. His
