Elmwood care home offers a ‘cruise liner experience’

When the prize is awarded for the best care home completed in the UK in 2005, Mission care’s new facility in Bromley, Kent, will be well up in the running. Elmwood, a three storey 67-bed care home, is said by its owners, Mission Care, to be probably the best equipped and most luxurious of its type anywhere in the UK. Developed by Mission Care in Bromley as an on-site replacement for a smaller home that had passed the end of its useful life, Elmwood is an impressive home that has even had people walking in off the street to enquire about availability of places. Mission Care chief executive Colin Bloom said he had an objective from inception to develop a home that would be something really special. “I want to give the residents a living experience that will be like that of a cruise liner,” said Mr Bloom. The result is a superbly designed and equipped home in which every detail has been thought through.
