Extracare cash is ‘piecemeal’

Local authorities have been asked to bid for £80 million of funding to build extracare housing, but national charity Help the Aged has described the funding package as “piecemeal action”.

The charity’s head of public affairs Kate Jopling said too many older couples were still being obliged to separate when one or other of them entered a care home.
