GVA Grimley issues home sale advice

The healthcare division of international property advisors GVA Grimley has issued “A Guide for Home Owners” in a bid to help owners of residential and nursing homes prepare for the sale of their businesses. The guide provides pointers on how to achieve the optimum sale price, whether looking to sell immediately or in the future. There is also advice on presentation and administrative issues for immediate sales and expansion strategies for those selling at a later date. The guide identifies the timing of a sale as one of the most important considerations for home owners – “Often the argument for not selling is that the business is trading strongly, providing excellent returns for the owners. But this is precisely when consideration should be given to the sale, since there is a risk that things could go down-hill,” the guide says. Partner and head of GVA Grimley’s healthcare department Andrew Sidwell gives an example: “A nursing home was registered for 38, with 24 single and seven double rooms, and average fees
