Hallmark unveils plans for a £7m facility in Essex

Hallmark healthcare has unveiled plans for a new â£7m 70-bed care home in Essex that would create up to 70 new jobs.

The provider has applied to Basildon Council to build the new development on the site of a former community centre in Billericay. The home would include a cinema, hair salon, therapy room, quiet rooms, a family function room, community room and 24-space car park.

The plans have been welcomed by local councillors with Frank Tomlin, Basildon councillor responsible for housing, saying there was clearly a need for such a facility.

‘My general view is to warm to any opportunity to provide that sort of accommodation,’ he said.

Councillors are expected to decide on the development before the end of the year. If approved building will start in the spring, finishing in early 2011.
