Highfield signs deal with union

Highfield Group, a major provider of residential, nursing and domiciliary care for elderly people, has signed a national recognition agreement with GMB, the UK’s general union. The agreement covers some 5,000 employees and GMB national officer Jude Brimble said it paved the way for partnership working between GMB and the Highfields Group. “As a major trade union in the care sector we are not only able to offer excellent service to our members, but also our expertise will allow us to work in partnership with Highfields,” Mr Brimble said. Highfields chief executive Martin Joyce said the agreement between Highfield and GMB would enable the two parties to work together in the interests of Highfields staff and the care industry as a whole.
