Homecare workforce greater than police

According to a recent report *more people are employed in the homecare industry than in the police force* The report _Who Cares? A profile of the Independent Sector Workforce in England_ published by the United Kingdom Home Care Association is based on the results of surveys of independent homecare providers in England and their care workers. Recent legislation has heralded the most significant changes to community care policies since the implementation of the National Health Service and Community Care Act in 1993. See _Homecare Professional_ November 2000 issue for further details.
