Independent bodies must have bigger role

A conference held recently in Southampton looked at the challenges facing Housing Associations, the NHS and local authorities in caring for elderly people. New ways to help older people live a more independent life were discussed at the conference organised by the Atlantic Housing Group. By the year 2025 the number of people over 80 is expected to increase by 50%. Speakers from the Government, the NHS, dementia care experts and organisations working in the Extra Care market looked at the growing demands of an ageing society.
