East Park Court opens its doors

Caring Times, February 2010

Wolverhampton's newest care home, East Park Court, opened its doors this week to the very first resident, Mrs Edna Gunter from nearby Eastfield Grove.

Edna, aged 78, moved into the brand new facility on Holloway Street last week, which is operated by Ideal Care Homes and provides a home for 44 people who require dementia care.  Having lived locally for most of life, Edna took the decision to live in East Park Court's more structured caring environment after seeing the specialised facilities the home has to offer, which include 100% en-suite accommodation, landscaped sensory gardens and a hairdressing salon.

The special first resident, pictured with Ideal Care Homes Managing Director Mark Greaves and three of her sisters, Valerie, Dorothy and Beryl, is the eldest of nine siblings and married childhood sweetheart Geoff in 1958.

Together, the couple lived very happily in Marfield Flats for 30 years but since her husband passed away, Edna has been living alone with the support of her large family.

East Park Court, which boasts fully landscaped sensory gardens, a courtyard and a hairdressing salon is the third home to be opened by Ideal Care Homes. It was built by sister company LNT Construction, both part of the Leeds-based LNT Group owned by Yorkshire entrepreneur Lawrence Tomlinson.
