Management buys into Sunrise stairlift division

Barrie Payne, ex-senior vice-president and managing director of Sunrise Medical UK has purchased the Minivator Stairlift division, based in Stourbridge, West Midlands, from medical equipment manufacturer Sunrise Medical for an undisclosed sum. Mr Payne has had 28 years’ experience in the mobility and rehabilitation market place. “I look forward to building on Minivator’s excellent reputation for quality and reliability, and working with a very established and loyal customer base, both in the UK and internationally,” Mr Payne said. Joining Payne in the management buy-in is ex-Sunrise director Mike Lord who will head the sales and marketing team, and who has spent the last 18-months re-establishing Minivator in the market. The new business, which is backed by HSBC, will be located in the same area of the West Midlands as the Sunrise operation to ensure continuity of the trained production staff.
