Managers can seek help on-line

Sovereign Healthcare Development Ltd, a care home consultancy, and the Guide2Care website company have developed an “online supervision service” for registered care managers. Sovereign’s Martin Wigg, who is also a Caring Times columnist, said many owner/managers of care homes felt stressed and isolated as a consequence of trying to comply with the Care Standards Act. “They are required to provide supervision for their staff but have no access to such support themselves,” Mr Wigg said. “The service will be appointment based, completely confidential, accessed by a password, and the charges will be very moderate,” Mr Wigg said. Guide2Care’s Steve Bishop said there was clearly a need for this type of service, as 20 expressions of interest had already been received. The service would be conducted via a live, online “chat room” facility on the Guide2Care website (www.guide2 – Go to the Guide2Care website for further details, or contact Martin Wigg, Tel: 02083861126
