Meridian Healthcare has acquired the 44-bed John Joseph Powell Memorial Care Centre in Prescot, Knowsley near Liverpool, taking the group¹s portfolio to a total of 1009 beds throughout the north of England. The group now owns four care homes in Knowsley, providing a mix of nursing, dementia and residential care. Three other care centres were purchased from Cornerstone Care in 2004, all of which provide residential services. Meridian Healthcare also purchased Ash Court in nearby Liverpool last year. John Joseph Powell Memorial Care Centre is purpose built and is registered for 38 nursing and six palliative care clients. Operations director Susan Firth said Meridian continued to seek potential purpose built sites to support its growing base in the North.
