More care homes for northern provider

Leeds-based Maria Mallaband Nursing Homes Ltd has added four care homes to its portfolio ­ Corinthian Care Ltd which operates a nursing home in Upper Wortley, Leeds; Hope Green Residential Home Ltd, which owns and operates a nursing home in Adlington, Cheshire; Alexandra Care Homes Ltd, which owns and operates a nursing home in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, and Rosedale in Catterick Garrison. With an annual turnover of about £16 million, the Maria Mallaband group, currently operates 16 care homes, housing 820 elderly people. The group is run by Phil Burgan (chairman), Paul Higgins (finance director) and Maria Twarowski (managing director). Mr Burgan said his company had been advised by Freeth Cartwright throughout the transaction. “A number of issues arose which the Freeth Cartwright team handled in an expedient, commercial and professional manner,” said Mr Burgan. “Freeth Cartwright has acted for us for a number of years and I continue to be impressed by their knowledge of the care sector.
