National Dementia Strategy – support for care homes welcomed

Proposals to strengthen specialist NHS mental health support to independent nursing homes, including assessment of patients, needs on admission and six-monthly reviews, have won support from the Registered Nursing Home Association (RNHA).

The proposals form part of the National Dementia Strategy which has won further praise from the RNHA for seeming to take a more positive tone about the role played by care homes in looking after people with dementia.
