New site puts care homes on the map

A web site promoting bed vacancies in care homes has been launched by Real Time IT Solutions. The site – www.ukcare.net – offers owners the opportunity to list their care home, and the services it offers, on the web site with the option of listing current bed vacancies. Members are able to amend their own details. There is also a members’ news area. Site designer Colin Wales said www.ukcare.net allowed members of the public to search for care homes by region or county, using a sophisticated vector mapping system. “In addition selection criteria can be applied when initiating the search,” Mr Wales said. For example a browser could search for all the care homes which provide residential respite care, have a garden for residents, where fees are within a specified fee range and, if necessary, where a given language is spoken. “Vacancy status details can be updated and local authorities and health authorities can log in to receive up to date details.” Mr Wales said the web site would soon include a database for do
