NHP gift should boost IHA

The Independent Healthcare Association (IHA) is being given £50,000 by Nursing Home Properties plc (NHP) to strengthen the work of the association. IHA chief executive Barry Hassell said the money would enable the association’s community care division to recruit a marketing manager to undertake an intensive membership recruitment campaign. This would free-up resources to allow the IHA to respond to the Local Government Bill which will enact “best value” in local authority purchasing from April 2000. The IHA is also working on producing in-depth responses to the yet-to-be-released Royal Commission report on the funding of long term care and the White Paper, “Modernising Social Services”. “I am delighted that NHP has expressed its confidence in the IHA,” Mr Hassell said. “NHP clearly takes its responsibilities as the leading care home financier very seriously and recognises the importance of promoting a strong and united industry.” IHA’s new marketing manager will work towards increasing the association’s comm
