Notaro acquires sixth care home

Notaro Homes Ltd, based in Weston Super Mare, Somerset, has purchased its sixth care home, the 42-bed Red Lodge in Taunton. The company says Red Lodge has full planning permission for a further 16 ensuite rooms and day space, plus a separate care complex for 32 beds. Notaro intends to complete both phases within two years, bringing the complex to 90 beds, in a development project costing more than £2 million. Managing director Nunzio Notaro said the company was also well under way on a £1 million refurbishment and extension at Clarence Park care home in Weston Super Mare. Purchased in January 2003, Mr Notaro said the home took nine months to achieve planning permission due to the original approval lapsing and the area since becoming a conservation area. The work is now due for completion in July 2004. The new wing will provide a further 16 luxury rooms bringing the total beds to 50. The emphasis would be on luxurious, comfortable high quality single rooms with hotel-like facilities but with the support of 2
