Owners face soaring energy costs

Energy consultancy Direct Energy Purchasing Ltd says there has been a dramatic increase in calls from concerned care home operators facing renewals as high as 130% and that high energy prices are catching many operators out.

DEP’s sales director Corin Dalby said that, unlike the bigger 3,000-plus beds groups, who are able to negotiate from a position of strength and so obtain keener prices, smaller operators faced an uphill struggle as they had limited market awareness.
