Philip Scott has been appointed chief executive of the Priory Group, a major independent provider of mental healthcare and specialist education services.

Mr Scott was previously chief executive at Southern Cross Healthcare Group, where he presided over a period of substantial growth for the company, including its successful public float in July 2006. Priory Group chairman Hans Michels said Mr Scott’s appointment would strengthen Priory’s management team after a year of record growth.

Mr Scott said he looked forward to developing new business streams that would broaden the range of services operated by the Priory Group.
