Provider profile: Careforce keeps on growing bigger

|Narrow margins and looming homecare regulation, now deferred until January next year, have seen accelerated consolidation in homecare provision. Caring Times editor Geoff Hodgson interviewed Mike Rogers, chief executive of Careforce, a company which has grown rapidly through acquisition of smaller homecare operations.| Since beginning operations in 1999, Hertford-based homecare provider Careforce Group Ltd has grown vigorously by acquisition. When he brought the company into being, Careforce chief executive Mike Rogers was already a homecare veteran, having been chief executive of Nestor Healthcare Group ­ the most active player in the homecare market ­ for more than 20 years before leaving the group in 1996. He then spent two years as a private consultant, with the homecare division of Westminster Health Care among his clients. “I wanted a specialist homecare company of my own ­ one that would not be buffeted about by other events within a group,” Mr Rogers said. “It was important that I had more control
