Rowancrest builds at Milton Keynes

The construction of one of the biggest private care homes in the UK is now under way in Kents Hill, Milton Keynes. Cardiff-based Chessmann Consulting is project-managing the development of the £10 million 148-bed development for Rowancrest Properties. The building contractor is Alaway Construction Ltd of Doncaster. The Milton Keynes development is the third scheme that the firm has handled for Surrey-based Rowancrest Properties. The previous two were 63 and 50-bed care homes in Cannock, Staffordshire. A further three large care homes in the Home Counties are currently being designed for Rowancrest. The development, funded by the Bank of Ireland, is due for completion in December 2006 and comprises a 135-bed care home and a separate 13-bed assisted living facility. “This is a major care home development by UK standards, and we are delighted to be involved with such a prestigious scheme,” said Chessman managing director Lee Bishop. “The fact that this is the third project we have handled for Rowancrest Propert
