Rowntree reports on use of ‘Talking Mats’ in dementia

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has published a report looking at the use of Talking Mats, a system of picture symbols, to help people with dementia to commmunicate.

Communication and Dementia: how Talking Mats can help people with dementia to express themselves by Joan Murphy, Cindy M Gray and Sylvia Cox examines the effectiveness of Talking Mats, a low-tech communication tool using a system of simple picture symbols, in helping people with dementia to express their views.
