Souther Cross acquires Life Style Care

Southern Cross Healthcare has acquired Life Style Care plc, one of the top 15 UK providers with a portfolio of 1,737 beds, for an undisclosed sum. Life Style is an operating company which owns the leasehold interest of 23 elderly care homes with gross assets of £11.8 million. Most of the homes acquired will be operated under the Ashbourne Senior Living brand and are located in Greater London, an area where Southern Cross has had a relatively small presence to date. The Group continues as the UK’s biggest provider, now operating 611 homes and 31,107 beds. Southern Cross chief executive Philip Scott said that, since October last year, his company had expanded its bed portfolio by 2,190 beds including this acquisition, the Alpha Healthcare acquisition in December and the opening of seven new development projects, significantly exceeding the company’s announced objective at flotation to add 1,200 beds to its portfolio each year. “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Life Style which continues our
