Stannah issues booklet on new lift regulations

Stannah Lift Services have just published LG 1 ­ The Facts, a booklet whioch takes lift owners and others responsible for lift maintenance through the guidelines on thorough examination and testing of lifts as set by SAFed (The Safety Assessment Federation). It explains what tests are required and how these are different from the old PM 7 tests (which have now been superseded by LG 1). While LG 1 is a guidance rather than a legal requirement, responsible lift owners will comply with LG 1 to ensure that they meet the requirements of health and safety law and apply “best practice” to lift maintenance If the guidelines set out in LG 1 are ignored and an accident should happen, the lift owner or premises manager may be prosecuted under health and safety legislation.
