The Registered Managers Award

|By Bob Barham Chief executive, Regis-CTV| The time for talking about the Registered Managers Award (RMA) has passed, with the TOPSS funding availability it is now time for action. Over the past few months there has been a wide range of views expressed and unfortunately a degree of misinformation. City and Guilds are now accepting registrations for the RMA and a few training providers and colleges are ready to enrol candidates to start their training/assessment process. Where do you get factual information? My first point of call is always the official websites of TOPSS ­ www.topss.org.uk and City and Guilds ­ www.city-guilds.co.uk Many other sites have information, however the TOPSS site for me is always the one I refer to most. The section on Frequently Asked Questions ­ FAQ ­ is particularly helpful. For example: – Do I need to have both a care and a management qualification to be a registered manager of a residential care home?
