TOPSS sets up regional training forums

Nine regional training forums are being established by the Training Organisation for the Personal Social Services (TOPSS England) to assist employers of care staff to access regional funding. TOPSS England chair Arthur Keefe said he understood that the Government had allocated £2 million, additional to the usual monies for social services departments¹ training, to fund regional action aimed at implementing what he described as “key targets in the Modernising the Social Care Workforce training strategy”. “This welcome first step shows the Government accepts the need to invest in social care staff in whichever sector they work,” Mr Keefe said. “All stakeholders in social care, including government, have a responsibility to invest in skills for social care. “Of course, the major responsibility for implementing the training strategy lies with employers. So, in addition to the government money announced today, our regional training forums are being established precisely to assist employers with those responsibil
