One of the North east¹s major providers of up-market care homes has made its fifth purchase through property agents GLP. Wellburn Care Homes Ltd, run by chartered surveyor Simon Beckett, specialises in country house style facilities. The company¹s most recent purchase is Craghall, a 33-bed care home with converted coach house buildings providing close care apartments. Wellburn plans to spend £300,000 on the property, which it holds on leasehold from Newcastle City Council, over the next 18 months. GLP managing director Andrew Long said the Craghall acquisition was a perfect fit with Wellburn¹s portfolio, and its philosophy of providing high quality care in character buildings. “This has helped Wellburn Care Homes to focus on a private pay market,” Mr Long said.
