Work starts on £2.5m extra care development

Rydon Construction, part of the Rydon Group based in Forest Row, East Sussex, has started work at Pegram House in Chadwell Heath, Essex. This is Rydon Construction’s second contract in a strategic partnering agreement with Anchor Housing Association in partnership with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. The contract is worth £2,503,000 and is due for completion in August 2001. It forms part of the Housing Forum round one project under the DETR initiative, demonstrating project development, implementation and supply chain partnering. Rydon says the development has been designed to provide extra care sheltered housing in an attractive two-storey, timber framed and brick clad block of 31 self-contained, one-bedroom flats. The development will feature several communal areas and, apart from the standard lounge and dining rooms, there will be a garden with a summer house and herb garden.
