Work under way on new McArdle facility

Building work is well under way at a new state-of-the-art £1.4 million elderly care home in Stockton-on-Tees (artist¹s impression below). The North East¹s largest elderly care provider, Helen McArdle Care, is building the 60-bed care home next to North Tees Hospital, creating about 60 jobs. The company says enquiries from elderly people are flooding in and reservations for places are being made. Helen McArdle Care says the home, scheduled to open in mid August, will be ultra modern and easily exceed new government guidelines for room sizes, providing extra comfort including ensuite facilities and leisure services. Residents will also benefit from a specialist hairdressing salon and communications room with internet and computer facilities. The home, which is being built by Walter Thompson Construction, is part of major expansion plans for the family-run Helen McArdle Care Group, which owns 19 purpose built care homes spanning the region from Morpeth in Northumberland to Yarm in Stockton.
