500-plus more beds for Barchester

Barchester Healthcare has recently added 10 new care homes to its portfolio with the acquisition of Murchison Associates and the Gary Lewis Group. All of the homes owned in each of these groups have now joined Barchester. The Murchison group consists of four homes which have added 212 beds to Barchester¹s bed count. Three of these homes provide residential care for elderly people and EMI residents. These homes are: Collingtree Park in Northampton, Chater Lodge in Lincolnshire an Hickathrift House in Cambridgeshire. The fourth care home in the Murchison group, Tixover House in Rutland, provides nursing care for elderly people. Most of the properties are conversions, incorporating part purpose-built facilities in Hickathrift House. Barchester Healthcare is now in the process of adding another 20 beds to the group and there are already plans to add retirement bungalows to the property in the future.
