A night of celebration at the care ‘Oscars’

Winners, finalists, sponsors, judges, enthusiastic supporters and leading figures from the sector participated in a dramatic Gala Night, held at a leading London hotel, which provided the climax to the six-month Care Awards programme. Now in their third year, the Care Awards, sponsored by Christie & Co and 11 top companies, are recognised as the key annual event in the long term care sector. This role comes by virtue of the enthusiastic support from the sector of the Care Awards1 guiding principle – which is to seek out and reward the very best people who work in the sector – for example carers and chefs – who often do not receive the recognition they deserve. With well-known comedian, broadcaster and TV star Barry Cryer as host, more than 500 people gathered at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel for an evening of excitement and fun. The evening chill was quickly banished by champagne cocktails sponsored by Bank of Scotland. After a first class meal the guests were entertained by Mr Cryer, famous for his quick
