Award for Abbeyfield founder

Abbeyfield Society founder Richard Carr-Gomm has received a Beacon prize for lifetime achievement, recognising his voluntary services to elderly people. Mr Carr-Gomm, 83, is still very active withing Abbeyfield, which is the UK1s biggest charity providing housing and care for older people. He feels strongly that the Abbeyfield way of life encourages older people to retain an independent lifestyle longer within a companionable and supportive environment.
