Care home built on site of Tooting hospital

Care provider Life Style Care has increased its bed numbers to about 1,250 with the opening of a new care home in Tooting, south London. The Heritage Care Centre in Tooting Bec will provide 72 beds for frail elderly and elderly mentally ill residents and has been built at a cost of £4 million. An additional feature is the two staff flats on the complex which have the capacity to accommodate up to eight key health workers. In all, the care centre will employ up to 90 full and part-time staff. Life Style Care operations director Paul Ware said the facility, built on the one-acre site of the former Tooting Bec NHS Hospital, offers fully landscaped gardens and two floors of the highest quality accommodation for residents. “The ground floor will be for 35 frail elderly residents, with capacity for 37 elderly mentally ill residents on the first floor,” said Mr Ware. “Like recent Life Style Care developments in Dagenham, Essex and Thamesmead in south-east London, the Heritage Care Centre meets all the requirements
